Join us for our longest and most scenic circular walk near London, a 17-mile guided hiking adventure through the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Starting in the historic market town of Berkhamsted, just 40 minutes from central London by train, this route takes you across some of the most beautiful and varied countryside in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Our journey begins in Berkhamsted, near the ancient Ashridge Estate, home to vast beech woodlands and herds of wild Fallow Deer. From there, the trail climbs up to Ivinghoe Beacon, one of the highest points in the Chilterns, where you’ll enjoy 360° panoramic views over rolling chalk hills, peaceful farmland, and picturesque villages.

We’ll follow a network of quiet footpaths and scenic ridge trails, looping back through dense pine forests and open farmland before descending into the Ashridge woodlands for a beautiful finish over Berkhamsted. This challenging day hike is perfect for walkers looking to push themselves while discovering some of the most stunning terrain near London.

Meet Point: Rear Exit Berkhamsted Station 9am (Castle Ruins)

Start and Finish Time: 9am to 4:30pm - 5km per hour pace

Distance: 17 miles (26km)

Difficulty level: Intermediate/Difficult - Walk will be paced at 5km per hour

What do i need to bring: Lunch, snacks, water and suitable outdoor clothing and hiking shoes/boots for forest conditions.

For safety reasons, we do not accept those attending in DM boots or fashion boots, shoes. Hiking footwear only.
