Join us for a scenic day walk along the Icknield Way from Baldock to Royston, exploring a section of the UK’s most historic walking trails. The Icknield Way is among the oldest hiking routes in Britain, with origins dating back to prehistoric times.
Our day walk begins in the historic market town of Baldock, a settlement with fascinating links to the Knights Templar. From there, we’ll follow the Icknield Way over scenic chalk and flint hills, passing through quaint villages with thatched cottages, some once home to literary figures like George Orwell. Along the way, you’ll enjoy countryside views, a mix of natural beauty, and stories that bring the landscape to life.

Start and Finish Time: 10am to 4:30pm
We start: Baldock station, finish at Royston Station
Trains: Trains run regularly from central London to both stations
Train Tickets: Travelling back to London? Please obtain train to ticket to Royston

Difficulty level: Intermediate - Walk will be paced at ( 3mph) 5km per hour
What do i need to bring: Lunch, snacks, water and suitable outdoor clothing and hiking shoes/boots for forest conditions.
For safety reasons, we do not accept those attending in DM boots or fashion boots, shoes. Hiking footwear only.
