During the workshop, you’ll put your skills into practice on a specially planned route around Ashridge, navigating gentle hills and forested footpaths while learning to:

• Read maps, signs, symbols, and contours effectively

• Use natural navigation techniques including the sun, wind, and trees

• Understand a compass, take accurate bearings, and follow them on the trail

• Navigate around obstacles and challenges with confidence

• Plan timing and route choices to reach key locations efficiently

• Fitness level: Standard – walking at 5km per hour
